Dr Ezzideen, Gaza, 27 janvier 2025<\/strong>. Ce matin, j\u2019ai parl\u00e9 avec un ami qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 contraint de fuir vers le sud de Gaza. Sa voix \u00e0 l\u2019autre bout du fil portait le poids de l\u2019\u00e9puisement, mais sous-jacente, une d\u00e9termination in\u00e9branlable br\u00fblait. Je lui ai demand\u00e9 s\u2019il avait l\u2019intention de retourner au nord, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 se trouvait autrefois sa maison avant que les bombes ne la r\u00e9duisent en d\u00e9combres m\u00e9connaissables.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Vous avez d\u00e9j\u00e0 une tente, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 vous \u00eates maintenant. Pourquoi revenir pour la r\u00e9installer sur les d\u00e9combres ? \u00bb <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sa r\u00e9ponse ne s’est pas fait attendre, elle est venue rapidement, tranchante comme une lame. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Parce qu\u2019elle est \u00e0 moi. Quand je la plante sur les d\u00e9combres de ma maison, je me sens libre. C\u2019est chez moi. Ma maison. L\u00e0-bas, je ne suis pas juste un autre homme d\u00e9plac\u00e9. \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

J\u2019ai pens\u00e9 au mot \u00ab chez soi \u00bb, qui s\u2019accroche \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2me comme un muscle \u00e0 l\u2019os, m\u00eame lorsque la structure elle-m\u00eame ne tient plus. \u00c0 Gaza, le chez-soi n\u2019est pas seulement fait de briques ou de b\u00e9ton. C\u2019est la terre, le sol sous vos pieds, l\u2019air charg\u00e9 de l\u2019odeur d’histoire et de douleur, la promesse tacite qu\u2019aucune guerre, aucun missile, aucune ligne trac\u00e9e sur une carte ne pourra vous priver de votre appartenance. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

La guerre ici est en pause, du moins pour l\u2019instant. Mais ce qui nous attend est un autre type de bataille, une bataille d\u2019endurance, de reconstruction \u00e0 partir de rien d\u2019autre que des cendres et de la m\u00e9moire. Les habitants de Gaza s\u2019y pr\u00e9parent \u00e0 leur mani\u00e8re, mus par le m\u00eame esprit que mon ami porte en marchant vers le nord, portant sa tente et son esprit de d\u00e9fi. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dans les jours \u00e0 venir, ils enterreront leurs morts et dresseront leurs tentes. Ils pleureront et reconstruiront, non pas parce qu\u2019ils en ont les moyens, mais parce qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas d\u2019autre alternative. Partir serait oublier, trahir la terre qui a souffert \u00e0 leurs c\u00f4t\u00e9s. Et donc ils rentrent, non pas pour survivre, mais pour r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer ce qui leur appartient. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Les jours \u00e0 venir seront \u00e9prouvants. Mais je pense \u00e0 mon ami, \u00e0 la d\u00e9termination silencieuse contenue dans sa voix, et je r\u00e9alise que la libert\u00e9 n’est pas toujours l’absence de lutte. Parfois, c’est le courage de continuer malgr\u00e9 tout.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
